When I first started out in network marketing I thought it couldn’t be that difficult. Especially if you have a background in customer service and sales, this was right in line with my skill set. This couldn’t have been further from the truth.

The first thing I realized was that off line marketing and online were two completely different worlds with entirely different sets of rules. My skill set experience came solely from the off-line world and when applied to the online world I fell flat on my mug. I’m not saying these off-line techniques don’t work because some people have had great success with them, OFFLINE. What I had to do was locate a superstar with success marketing online and follow in their place.

After about a year of searching I found a idea called Attraction Marketing by Mike Dillard. Mike spoke of concepts like having customers chasing you with credit card in hand ready to purchase or making money from customers even if they don’t join your primary business. get it. I was always taught to pitch, pitch, pitch and if that didn’t work pitch your business again! I also thought you had to push your primary business in order to make any money. Needless to say I bought his book, Magnetic Sponsoring and it was my first step down the rabbit hole so to speak. Everything my upline told me to do was the exact opposite according to this book. Like throwing house parties with associates and relatives, purchasing junk leads, making cold calls to people wondering what I was advertising and how I got their number. Some folks will put up resistance to these Attraction Marketing principles while other will immediately embrace them. I had little to no success generating leads online until I started implementing these principles.

The first rule in Attraction Marketing is to brand yourself as a leader and this will get people lining up for your business. YOU become the reason why people join your business rather than the business itself. Prospects trust and believe leaders so, when you position yourself as a leader you become those things thus have prospects flock to you. You automatically separate yourself from the 95% of others pitching their primary business. This will establish the attraction process. Next is how to get paid even when people don’t join your opportunities. This is called a funded proposal which is the process of advertising inexpensive useful products to cover your advertising expenses while keeping your real opportunity on the back end. This gives you an advertising budget while you create enough leads to get the right people in your primary business. I say the right people because they must comprehend attraction marketing and be willing to apply it in their marketing. This creates duplication in your team for maximum profit and you’re also not signing up people who want to use old school tactics that just simply do not work in the online world.

There are many, many more principles of attraction marketing and I can’t possibly cover them all in this one article but by and large you really need to keep an open mind. Your ideas and opinions about online marketing will certainly be challenged. I use to do everything I was told by my upline like market a replicated website, pitch to anyone within 3 feet of me, and use a memory jogger list to establish a warm market. There are 97% of marketers online in some way or another are using these techniques and are getting minimal to no results while the remaining 3% are utilizing attraction marketing techniques which generate 10 -100 leads daily, in some cases even more. I recall chatting with a prospect who said he would kill to have 5 people a day to talk about his business with but was not willing to spend $50 to get top notch training from master marketers who have blazed a trail and removed the pitfalls that would be there if he went it alone. I am not trying to make a sell you so put your credit card away, I’m just giving some advice. Research for yourself, be rational in your choices and examine all the details to see if this makes sense. Are you part of the 97% and how are you going to get from lead poverty to lead prosperity. The decision to be a true network marketer is the same as being a business owner. This means to make it in this industry its going to take more than the old college try of 2-3 months. Just as in life there will be obstacles but with the right tools, training and leadership you will SUCCEED.
